Hi,

I just set up an inofficial FSFE-Channel in the Red Matrix. Currently it
mirrors the english news feed.

If you like, connect yourself with [1]. :)

Best,
Christian

Great, I just tried to open it but my browser can't load the page (it
loads for ever). Server issue or wrong URL?

BTW. Currently I'm only running a Friendica instance. Is it possible to
connect to it with Friendica?

Cheers,
Bj?rn

Now it works. I just subscribed with my Friendica instance to it. Nice!

Hello,

just before receiving my FairPhone I'd like to setup the server side
(for synchronization) using OwnCloud but I'd try installing MediaGoblin,
Pump, and whatever could help me to go away from centralized services.

Which hosting service would you suggest me to achieve it?

I'm currently based in Munich but I don't see any need of restrictions
other than: European provider, Free Software friendly, of course
reasonably cheap. :)

I'm sure some of you might already have a setup similar to what I
described above, so... what are you using?

Thanks in advance and ciao!

You might want to try uberspace.de, which is free software friendly
and pay what you want. I don't know if they support MediaGoblin,
etc., but I've had good luck with web and mail with them.

Here's some info about diaspora (possible, but requires hacking) &
Friendica (works out of the box) on uberspace:

Over the last couple of months I'm using Yourserver and I'm very
pleased. Good performance and support on a reasonable price. They have
datacenters on Sweeden and Latvia.
https://www.yourserver.se/

In any case try to avoid US-based hosting providers, even they have
European datacenters.

I'm a happy customer of Schokokeks[1], a small Free Software
friendly hoster. From my own experience I can tell you that ownCloud,
Friendica, GNU Social and Known works really well. Basically all the
PHP stuff works without problems. I'm not sure about MediaGoblin
(Python) and Pump.io (NodeJS). Especially for Pump.io I could imagine
that it will be hard to find a webhoster which supports Apache and
NodeJS next to each other. Maybe the best thing is to have a small
(V)Server for this kind of apps.

Hello,

I'd like to say thank you very much for the suggestions I received in
this mailing list and directly to my mail.
Really a nice community!

Today I bought the web hosting service and tomorrow I'll pick up my
Fairphone from post office.
Sounds like this weekend I'll be busy! :)

Good night!

Gianf:)

I'm also looking for hosting, mainly for mediagoblin so I need tb's of
storage but I also want it to not cost me much more then buying the hard
drives myself. I just need a place with the upstream bandwidth for
streaming and transferring video. a service that does all the hard stuff
would save me a lot of time. ethics of the company are also important to me.

It needs to be a service that can communicate in English.

thank you :)
